FW8 Director

thoughts from participants

February 11, 2009 – 7:55 pm by fw

We’ve asked participants and/or staff of FW7 to share their thoughts and experiences here in this post while they’re still fresh.  We might even hear from some FW6 participants too!

The foundation workshop was an eye opening experience for me. The opportunity to be taught by arguably the worlds best wedding photojournalists gathered at one workshop was out of this world. To be honest, the entire experience was amazing. From the days spent on assignment to time shared with other students to the extensive late night critiques, the only way I can describe the foundation workshop is “the complete experience”. You will be taught, challenged, supported and loved by the staff and participants through a powerful, life changing journey.    - Nic Dragomire

A life changing experience.  It might sound a little cliche, but there really is no other way to describe it.  From the classes on the first day to the slideshows on the last, this is the best workshop out there for wedding photographers.   Too many workshops focus on trying to make you a better wedding photographer.  Foundation will simply make you a better photographer.  You will learn from some of the best in the industry how to move past getting the safe shots and start learning how to find & tell a story.  If you sign up for FW8, come say hi because I plan on going back every year.   -Scott Williams

ETA: We’re posting the rest of these on the page entitled What People Say.

Reflecting Individually - post share

We all gave to the Foundation Workshop

And we all recieved…

Here’s my reflection Titled: My Photographic Family Portrait:  ”from these minds my career has been molded - and to whom I give my highest gratitude”

by Neil Cowley

“While I attended Foundation as a teacher, I found I was the beginner student….What follows is an autobiographical slideshow spanning 20 years of my work, from the first image I made to the last.

by Amy Deputy

“I returned today from the Foundation Workshop. It’s the best photography workshop out there!

by Ashley Langford

Just imagine a love fest of photographers literally obsessed with making better photos, telling a story… seeing. It’s an experience like no other and no other workshop comes close to it.

However, it comes back to, for me, taking a chance on myself.
Deciding if I was brave enough to fail. And then, if I had the courage to continue forward and really open my eyes.
