Foundation Conference Photography Competition
Open Judging: November 2, 2009 @ 6 pm

GENERAL RULES :

- Eligibility: the competition is open to all photographers except its judges.

- Competition fee: $45 for Foundation Conference attendees or $75 for non-attendees. This is an all-inclusive fee. Please make your payment with the link at the bottom of this post.

- Deadline: Digital entries must be received by 11:59 pm Central time on October 15, 2009

- Categories:

1. Light - seeing/recognizing/using artificial or natural light from the wedding day, can be a portrait

2. Moment - candid/real/decisive moment

3. Surprise - unusual/unique/unexpected/distinctive imagery from the wedding day

4. Portrait - posed/directed from the wedding day or portrait session

5. Story : collection of up to 9 best/amazing/fabulous images from the same wedding day

- Awards:

1st place award in each category: $100 ProDPI voucher or $75 cash
2nd place award in each category: $50 ProDPI voucher or $35 cash
3rd place award in each category: $25 ProDPI voucher or $15 cash

- The award is doubled for the Story category

- The photographer with the most 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place awards will receive the Grand Prize of his/her choice among: $1,000 Finao voucher, lifetime FWF membership (and possibly some other choices). In case of a tie, tie breaker goes to the photographer with the most 1st place awards.

- Award amounts may increase with more competitors.

- Awards will be announced by the end of the conference.

- Entries will be organized prior to judging. Judging will take place in an open room format. Conference attendees and/or FC Photo Comp entrants may attend as observers, but cannot speak or participate during the judging.

- Each photographer can enter up to 3 digital images in each category but only 1 entry (9 images max) in the Story category.

- Images will be judged on creativity, originality, technical expertise, artistic merit, and relevance to theme.

- By entering, photographers warrant that his or her images are original, created by the photographers, do not infringe on any third party’s rights, and that photographer has obtained any necessary permissions from any third party if a third party or third party’s property appears in the photograph.

- Each image may be entered into only one category. Exception: single images in the Story category maybe entered in another category

- Images must have been taken between January 1, 2008 and October 1, 2009

- Images must be of actual wedding clients in the context of their wedding, engagement session, bridal session, or portrait session. Images of models may not be used.

- No composites. Each image is a single capture.

- Images should have straight, unmodified borders/edges. No strokes, keylines, frames, borders, torn edges, polaroid edges, or other modifications are allowed.

- Any photographer who knowingly circumvents the rules of this competition or exploits its possible loopholes to gain a competitive advantage will receive bad photographic karma for a minimum of 3 years.

HOW TO ENTER:

- Username: Each participant needs to select a unique username. Please select a username that’s not recognizable and as unique as possible.

- File naming: Each filename should have the category, username, and entry number. For example, if your username is dallas, your entries will be named:

lightdallas1, lightdallas2, lightdallas3

humordallas1, humordallas2, humordallas3

storydallas1, storydallas2, storydallas3, storydallas4 … storydallas9

- Dimensions: resize your files so that the longest side is 1000 px
